Hip-hop has always kept pockets of dry humor and satire in its arsenal for partly-cloudy humorists like myself. Biz Markie, Slick Rick and lately MF DOOM immediately come to mind. But for a long time now emcees have been handled topics with sitcom level penning. In this case, Chuck Inglish (Cool Kids) and Asher Roth got together for "In the Kitchen" and I couldn't keep the smirk off my face.
Not only is it strange to watch an entire hip-hop video in the kitchen of a chinese restaraunt, the song actually seems to be poking a little fun at all the supposed hustlers that may or may not be "whipping birds up" in the "kitchen". I'm into smart-ass rap.
Whatever context or misinterpretation notwithstanding, I'm always gonna go after the good laugh. Ha!
