I Remember When...

I still remember walking into a record store downtown Chicago many years ago, on my lunch break to grab a pack of Nagchampa incense and browse the wide array of new and old music, when Goapele's Closer began to play. I stopped in my tracks and ran to the cashier frantically asking, "Who is this?"

Very casually, he said, "Goapele. The song is Closer from her debut album."

I left that day with my incense and that cd. I've been a fan ever since. I own all of her albums in fact and when "Break of Dawn" drops, I shall cop that too! Until then, check out the video to the first single, Play.

Goapele definitely switched the style up while still staying true to her sound and I love it!! --Dee
