Korto Momolu AFWNY

On the evening of July 14th, 2011, Korto Momolu will debut her Fall 2011 collection at Africa Fashion Week New York. Momolu will set the standards high for the remaining 27 designers scheduled to showcase their collections on the 14th, 15th, and 16th of July at the Broad Street Ballroom in New York City.

Korto Momolu was born in Liberia in West Africa. She moved to Ottawa, Canada in 1990 to study at L’Academies des Couturiers Design Institute for fashion design. After graduation, she settled in Arkansas and started her work as a designer of women’s clothing and accessories. Not quite satisfied, Korto furthered her education at Parsons School of Design and earned a spot on Bravo’s “Project Runway.” She ended the 5th season with a place in New York fashion week, fan favorite, and 1st runner up. After the show, Momolu partnered with Dillard’s to produce handbags and jewelry for “The Saba Collection.” She returned to fashion week in September of 2010 to debut her Spring 2011 collection. Korto will conquer New York City once again for Africa Fashion Week New York: look out for vibrant colors, rich textures, and a taste of her African heritage on the runway.
