CASRAM expands with more events to include theater and visual arts by women
Washington DC, June 1, 2010: the solSource group is excited to announce its lineup for the 5th Annual Can A Sista Rock A Mic? (CASRAM) Music & Arts Festival. Can a Sista Rock a Mic? Festival, now more efficiently referred to now by its acronym, CASRAM, features popular local and nationally recognized women in soul, hip-hop, R&B and related genres, promoting positive themes, images and messages in music and the arts. The 2010 festival occurs at various venues within D.C.'s U Street corridor and Silver Spring, Maryland from June 3 through June 19.
CASRAM kicks off with a pre-festival event June 3rd featuring Detroit's highest rated, and arguably one of the most talented female MC, Invincible. Invincible is the antithesis of stereotypes and draws lyrical comparisons to The Roots' lead MC Black Thought. Invincible not only raps but is involved in many grassroots community organizations in Detroit, where the country's depressing economic impact is obvious.
This year Can A Sista Rock A Mic? Festival partners up to deliver its emerging female emcee event with arguably the most dedicated, illest, women emcees in the nation! Invincible, represents CASRAM's vision of multi-platform community building with the arts. She headlines the hip hop piece of, and truly answers Can A Sista Rock A Mic?
